Household and Personal Emergency Kits
The basic emergency kit for a home should include bandaids, gauze pads,
pressure dressings, antiseptic wipes, triangular bandages, adhesive
tape and surgical instruments such as scissors and forceps. It should
also include clean water, food supplies, water purification tablets,
blankets and battery operated communication devices such as an AM/FM
radio.
You should make special provisions for toddlers or family members with
special needs. Keep records of any allergies, prescriptions and a history
of any family illnesses. If your area has experienced a disaster or
attack, please be aware that professionally trained help may take 72
hours or more to reach you. You must be prepared to handle the emergency
yourself.
